Biden Pays Farmers Not to Farm

The government serves a major role when it comes to agriculture. Some of the government's policies affect the domestic economy, foreign affairs, and trade initiates, which have an impact on agriculture production. Local government agencies play a role by providing food safety, inspections, soil conservation, and environmental protections. The government's actions have both negative and positive consequences.

The Biden administration is working to combat climate change. One way Biden wants to go about climate change is paying farmers not to farm. In theory, if the farmers stop working their land then it will decrease the carbon footprint. But leaving open fields can lead to more carbon in the atmosphere. The program wants farmers to not farm their land for 10-15 years, then they can begin growing crops again. After waiting the time before planting, once planting begins the amount of carbon that will be released is more than was eliminated during the 10-15 years, thus defeating the purpose. The Biden administration has proven to be uneducated on the topic meaning if they move forward with this program it will not benefit anyone, the program will only be hurting America's farmers.

With Biden's plan, farmers will put their land into "conservation". The farmers do this by planting cover crops instead of planting the food America needs. The United States population is growing extremely fast. So fast that America is expected to run out of food by 2050. With the concern regarding food shortage, Biden's new plan if successful may lower the carbon footprint but at what cost. The cost is having a lack of food.

Since the Biden administration proposed this new idea not much has come of it. Farmers have been participating in a program called CRP. CRP is a way for conserving land to help with the population and overall well-being of wildlife. Most of the farmers turn their ground into CRP due because the land has become no longer farmable. My point with the previous statement is that farmers will not be willing to take perfectly good farmland and let it sit for years, which is what Biden's plan wants.

Biden's Administration will most likely be unsuccessful with this new plan. There are too many errors in the plan. It will take lots of time for them to perfect a plan they want and if the plan gets instated then it will either fail, due to farmers' lack of interest, not getting the outcome they expected, or because of a large shortage of food appears in the United States.
