Busy Fall

Fall is one of the busiest times for a farmer. Even though it's the busiest season, it is still the season I look forward to the most. During harvest farmers may experience setbacks whether big or small.

For me, fall is the season I tend to look forward to the most. I have always been around to help during harvest. Whether that providing an extra hand to for working on machinery or as I got older I began pulling gravity wagons (full of soybeans to sell at the grain elevator) and then running the combine. Helping around the farm has always brought me great joy!

Every farmer hopes for a successful harvest season with no major issues. There isn't much that will get in farmers way during the harvest season. Wheather and machine failures are the two main reasons why you won't see farmers out doing their thing. Some years weather can cause major delays in farmers getting all their crops harvested. Farmers cant harvest when after a large amount of rainfall because the field will become muddy and the crops will have too high of moisture. Normally every year there is a day or two set back because of the weather. Also, when problems arrive with machinery it can cause a huge setback. Some of the problems can be fixed in a day or even a couple hours but other major issues can take days to get fixed and can be expensive.

For my family this harvest season we were able to get all of the crops harvested with no major mechanical issues. There were a few day setbacks due to weather but it didn't have a huge impact on the outcome.
